Avocado Overdose (Recipe)
The first time I tried avocado, I HATED IT. My aunt made avocado ice cream and it just tasted... off. Later on I realised it was the gula melaka taste I didn't like. I think it tasted burnt/too raw I don't remember lol but I like gula melaka now!!! So I didn't dare try avocado until my mother made me drink avocado milkshake from Ayer Rajah market. Hands down best avocado milkshake I've ever had man.
Wait or did I try avocado milkshake in Indonesia first... anyway the ones in Indonesia were too sweet but it was good too.
The point is, I have 10 avocados in my fridge and I am so tempted to make a giant cup so I can drink for the entire day. But no, just gonna make one drink a day. I wish I had gula melaka and chocolate syrup but I don't, so I improvised.
My recipe for super thick avocado milkshake dinosaur (serves one SK):
- 2 avocados
- 100ml of evaporated milk, add more if you like
(200ml if you're using fresh milk. I use evaporated milk because it's richer and I like the taste) - 3/4 table spoon of sugar. Again, add more if you like.
(Add double the amount, maybe less idk, if you are using gula melaka) - 6-8 ice cubes
- A shot of water
- Table spoon of milo powder or chocolate syrup (optional)
1. Cut avocada in half, squeeze the half with the seed (seed facing downwards, preferably above a sink or rubbish rin) and it should fall out easily.
2. Add ice, evaporated milk, sugar and water in the blender.
3. Scoop out avocado flesh with a spoon into the blender.
4. Blend for a minute or so.
5. Taste and add more milk or sugar if you'd like.
6. Top with milo powder or chocolate syrup.
This is really more of a puree than a milkshake so if you want, add more water to make two servings. Or use one avocado but same amount of ice, water, milk and sugar. Idk. This is a terrible recipe. HAHAHA. I don't usually measure when I make stuff I just add until it feels right.
You can also use condensed milk (half a tablespoon should be enough), then don't add sugar and add more water. I think condensed milk is a bit too cloying so I don't like it. It should only be used for milo, coffee and tea. It might go well with strawberries. I shall try another day.
The recipe can be modified to make other types of milkshakes too!!! Just don't use gula melaka or top with milo powder wtf. For papaya, banana, watermelon and other sweet fruits don't need to add sugar. Probably need more water as well.
I need to stock up my fridge with more fruits man.
Okay bye.
